Act V

Exposition: Balthasar, Romeo's servant, brings news to our protagonist, Romeo, of Juliets supposed death.

Rising Action: Romeo goes to the apothecary and obtains illegal poison to kill himself. Later, Paris is visiting the Capulet family tomb, where Juliet's body was placed, to lay flowers for her. Romeo then arrives at the cemetery and threatens Balthasar not to follow him. Paris recognizes Romeo as he walks through the cemetery and believes that he is there to defile the tomb. This is ironic because it is quite the opposite, and Romeo wants to kill himself. Paris confronts Romeo and they fight, Paris' page witnesses the fight and goes to alert the Prince.

Romeo eventually overtakes Paris and kills him. Romeo then enters the tomb and prepares to kill himself.

Climax: Romeo then kills himself, and Friar Laurence arrives as Juliet awakens. Friar Laurence urges Juliet to leave, but she refuses and then kills herself with Romeo's dagger.

Falling Action: The Prince arrives and demands to know who is responsible. Friar Laurence is brought forth and explains the whole situation to the Prince, Lord and Lady Capulet, as well as Lord Capulet.

Resolution: The two main antagonists of the story settle their difference and erect statues of the others child to honor them.

Quotes

"Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight." -Romeo

I chose this sentence because it reveals Romeo's intentions to kill himself.

The Page goes to alert the Prince about the events.

"Saint Francis be my speed! How oft tonight Have my old feet stumbled at graves!" -Friar Laurence

This sentence illustrates the fact that if the friar was faster, or stumbled less he may have been able to prevent the ill proceedings.

This sentence shows how Juliet wants to die.

"O brother Montague, give me thy hand." -Capulet
